Privacy Policy

What we collect

If you email us: your name, email address and whatever you write in your message. We use this only to reply to you.

If you’re a business we reach out to: we sometimes email contractors, realtors and others using contact details they publish for their business, to share a listing or our free guides. Every email says how to stop receiving them, and we honor those requests.

When you browse the site: like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records basic technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit. This is used to keep the site running and secure.

You do not need to give us any information to browse the site or contact a contractor.

Visitor statistics: we use Burst Statistics, a privacy-friendly analytics tool that runs on our own website, to count page visits and clicks on contractor phone numbers and websites. It does not use cookies, does not identify you personally, and the data is not shared with advertisers or other companies.

Maps: the contractor maps on this site are drawn with OpenStreetMap. When you open a page with a map, your browser loads the map pictures directly from OpenStreetMap’s servers, which receive your IP address and basic browser details, as any website you visit would. We don’t send them anything else. How they handle that information is covered by the OpenStreetMap Foundation’s privacy policy.

What we don’t do

• We do not sell, rent or trade your information.
• We do not pass your information to contractors. If you contact a contractor, you do so directly.
• We do not use advertising trackers.

Who we share information with

We share information only with the services that run the site for us, and only as needed for them to do that job: our website hosting (Pantheon) and our email provider (Porkbun). Our site is connected to Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools, which show us which searches lead to the site; those reports cover searches in general and don’t include information about you. We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights or safety of our visitors, contractors or ourselves.

Cookies

The site may use small cookies needed for it to work properly, for example to remember settings or keep the site secure. We do not use cookies for advertising.

Links to other websites

This site links to contractors’ own websites, government agencies and our sister site, 757 Waterfront. Those sites have their own privacy practices.

How long we keep it

We keep messages only as long as we need them to reply, keep listings accurate, and keep normal business records. You can ask us to delete them at any time.

Security

We use reasonable safeguards to protect the information we have, including secure (HTTPS) connections. No website can promise perfect security, but we keep what we collect to a minimum.

Children

804 Waterfront is a resource for adult homeowners, realtors and contractors. It isn’t directed to children.

Your choices

You can ask us to see, correct, delete or get a copy of any information you’ve sent us, including Virginia residents’ rights under the Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act. Contractors can ask us to update or remove their listing at any time. Email info@757waterfront.com.
